After months of staying at home, some of us are finally back to the office during the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO). The first day of office might feel as if you are attending school on the first day. Subsequently, we are back to the normal face to face conversations but how or where to start? Here we compile 4 simple steps to easily build rapport with your colleague.
Simple Greeting.
The simplest of things held the most value. A smile and a simple good morning will surely perk up their morning.
Ask Questions.
Simple question such as how they commute to work is a common question and perhaps make a quick lunch plan together so you can catch up with what was happening months ago.
Team Work.
Nothing can build rapport faster than team work. If you are a manager, it is important to also be a team player. Get in on your staff or colleague’s working pattern to know more about them.
Be Patient.
Being forceful does not come out as confident at times and you might even end up looking and sounding desperate. After months of working from home, some might need time to adjust to the “new” working environment.
Conclusion
If we are spending almost 40 hours a week in the workplace, it is better if we could work in a comfortable and friendly environment. It is proven to also improve work performance and you could engage with various people and you might find something that could help you in furthering your career.
